Board members
are unpaid and commit their time and expertise
to govern the organisation and ensure the
delivery of services to address the needs of the
most disadvantaged in our community.
As a charity, surpluses are not
distributed to any individuals and are
re-invested in the organisation or in the
delivery of services to overcome disadvantage.
Board members
have a wide range of skills and experiences
including accountancy, marketing, community
development, career and employment development,
management and law.
The Board are
responsible for the governance and overall
direction of the organisation and for the
employment of a Chief Executive Officer to act
on their behalf and manage the organisation.
Current
Board members have an average of 8 years
commitment to the organisation, with the Chair
and Treasurer showing a combined commitment of
35 years.
Board members
are strongly committed to ensuring that Jobs Australia Midland
maintains a focus on providing services to assist the most
disadvantaged in the community.
The Board has endorsed the allocation of funds and staff over
a number of years to delivering services to support those most in
need such as Indigenous, refugees and migrants with minimal English,
and long term unemployed people, and is strongly committed to Jobs
Australia Midland working in partnership with others in the
community to alleviate disadvantage and poverty.
The current
Strategic Plan endorsed by the Board identifies their commitment to
increasing and enhancing the range of community services offered to
the most disadvantaged in our community; a commitment to invest in
the development of affordable housing; a commitment to maintain and
enhance services to Indigenous people, and a commitment to continue
to fund our Community Key services, which include a Low Cost
Counselling service for people who are in poverty or disadvantaged
who need but cannot afford counselling.
The Board meets
bi-monthly as a full Board and creates sub-committees or working
parties as the need arises. The Annual General Meeting is held
in September.
