Partners in Training

Partners in Training is a structured unpaid work placement that is targeted at assisting jobseekers gain or update work skills. As such it has specific learning outcomes that are to be achieved during the placement. In effect it is a partnership arrangement that is negotiated between Jobs Australia Midland, the Host Employer and the Jobseeker.

Very often the gap between unemployment and employment is very small, but the Jobseeker can bridge that gap by learning how to use a particular piece of machinery, learning a new software program, training on a late model telephone switchboard, or simply brushing up on existing skills.

For a business, this can be an opportunity to assess and train a potential future employee in the needs of YOUR workplace.

How is PIT different from work experience?

In many cases work experience is similar. The major difference is that Partners in Training is more structured and all partners are fully aware of, and agree to, the learning outcome/s to be achieved prior to placement. The placement is monitored with regular contact between the three parties involved.

How long should a placement be?

Placement periods depend very much on the learning outcome/s to be achieved. In principle they could vary from a 3 hour placement to a matter of weeks. Hours and days can be flexible to meet the Jobseeker's and the Host Employer's needs.

What about insurance?

Jobseekers are covered by the Jobs Australia Midland Insurance Policy.
